Sport Hypnosis

Channel the power of your own mind!

Hypnosis is being used increasingly by top professionals and amateurs in their modern training techniques. No longer is it perceived as the submissive state so often portrayed in movies and misunderstood by the public. If you want to sharpen your mental focus, relax your body, visualize success, promote healing and take control of your emotions when competing and training, hypnosis can be an excellent tool.

The tailored and targeted use of hypnosis can enable you to perform "in the zone" - that place of supreme focus where your mind fully connects and you achieve peak performance. Being "in the zone" is also referred to as being in the "flow" state.

Flow is a special psychological state of total absorption in a task. When in flow, athletes are fully focused on what they are doing, and this heightened attention is associated with several positive factors. There is much evidence in support of the existence of a flow state, but it doesn’t fully explain the peak performance experience. Optimal performance is also associated with what’s known as the “clutch state”. Clutch states can be achieved in clutch situations, when athletes need to “make something happen” – these situations will typically be a high pressure point in a competition where the athlete’s success or failure in making something happen has a significant outcome on the overall result - in golf that might be holing a difficult putt to win a competition; in football it may be a penalty in the final minutes, needed to win the game.

I have worked with athletes at World Championship level and helped them to understand how they can enter the "zone" and experience "flow state" - and in doing so, achieve podium position by using hypnosis. But don't take my word for it; here's what some of my clients have said:

“Without a doubt working with Mark to engage my subconscious enabled me to compete at my highest level. The results speak for themselves and I truly believe hypnosis gave me the mental edge over my competitors. I switched on my armour and got the job done!

Genuinely I believe with the help of you, Mark, and the session we had on the Friday just before we competed, sealed the deal for me. I just absorbed everything you said and it just made sense. (It was actually a bit life changing for me!)"

“R and I contacted Mark a few weeks before our big race in order to achieve an edge over our competitors. We had a 5-star, fool-proof training plan in place and were in the best shape physically of our lives. However, I have seen first-hand the effects of race day pressure take down the biggest, baddest athletes and no training plan is good enough to combat what the psychological impact of racing can have on you …

… I wanted to tap into my subconscious, to be able to override the voice in my head and to remain calm and in complete control in the days leading up to the race as well as race day …

… for me the thing that stands out more than anything was the level of focus it gave me. The day before the race I told Mark I was getting anxious about things I hadn’t considered; I didn’t take into account how much of an impact being in Las Vegas would have on me: the air - lots of air-con which dried my throat and mouth to an uncomfortable level; the heat during the day sapping my energy levels; the jet-lag and lack of sleep; the food; the flight and the swelling of my hands and feet!!

We had a hypnotherapy ‘top up’ session with Mark the day before the race and he got me to just focus.

The moment the gun went off I was so unbelievably focused, more than I have ever been in my life, that nothing mattered. Not the air, not the temperature, not how hot or hard it was, I was mechanical.

I was able to pace my runs to within seconds of each other. I just knew exactly how hard and fast to push and when to pull back. I didn’t focus on any other person there.

It was the absolute best we have ever performed. We took over 6 minutes off our previous time. There were 32 seconds between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. We came third in the world in our age category as well as overall.

The one significant difference between that race and the others, was my mind which is usually full of noise and stress. It was as if a switch had turned on and I just knew how to get the job done.

“Thank you for helping me through a very tough time. I have recommended you and will continue to. Your knowledge and expertise are insane(!) and it’s been a very interesting process. I feel very close to being myself again. Best wishes, R.”

Dear Mark,

Firstly thank you so much for your wise words and good wishes after my procedure.

You have been most helpful and kind throughout my consultations.
I found with your help I was able to feel less anxious whilst waiting for the Ablation and, on the day, go in to the hospital with more confidence than previously. During the four-hour procedure I was impressed with my calm stillness. Indeed, the consultant actually congratulated me on my ability to stay still!

I am still, almost daily, practicing my self-hypnosis and finding it particularly helpful when I become over-tired.

Thank you so much for everything!
Kindest regards”

“Dear Mark,

Thank you very much indeed for the hypnotherapy sessions. I found them really helpful (and enjoyable) and my IBS has improved loads since we started. I'm enjoying starting my day with a bit of self-hypnosis and feeling more relaxed and comfortable - I really appreciate the benefit”

“After only one visit, Mark made a significant alteration and improvement to a deep-rooted fear response and lack of self-belief, whereby my loved ones and friends made comments over the following days and weeks to what a huge difference in my confidence and self-esteem I was suddenly displaying. Several months later, my confidence is only increasing further and I put that singularly down to Mark’s empathy, time and skill. I am incredibly grateful to him and would highly recommend his work to anyone!”

“I was recommended to Mark by my trainer who had been to see him previously. We knew that I had trained as much as I could for this event and as I was quite in touch with my ‘mind over matter’ motto I felt I had nothing to lose and everything to gain in having a session with Mark. Not knowing what to expect I was surprised at how quickly I relaxed and went in to a hypnotic state of mind. When I was ‘re-awakened’ I felt excited and more ready than ever for my event! I used the techniques which Mark discussed with me and had embedded into my subconscious throughout my session, during my event which really helped me to keep my focus.”
